Ralph Dickinson |
|
We
were immensely saddened to hear of the death of long-standing
supporter Ralph Dickinson, who passed away at St Catherine's
Hospice on Tuesday. Ralph, who lived in Hawkesbourne Road, was a
popular and familiar face at the club, along with son Terry, and
was often seen lending his hand to the many jobs around the old
Queen Street ground, including cleaning, painting and DIY
repairs. Ever eager to assist his local club, Ralph later
collected the money from supporters transferring in to the stand
on matchdays and he regularly made donations to the club, most
notably a set of goal nets in the club colours. A real
character, Ralph will be deeply missed by all who knew him and
anyone wishing to pay their respects can do so at his funeral
service at Surrey & Sussex Crematorium, on Monday 28th May at
10:45am. |

Simon buoyed by player interest |
|
Simon Colbran admitted that he was both surprised and delighted
by Ray Freeman's decision to agree terms with the club for next season.
Freeman was thought to have played his last game for the Hornets
after going AWOL following the Brighton Charity Cup win at
Crowborough but is one of more than a dozen of this season's
squad to have pledged themselves to the club next season.

Commercial manager |
|
The
club is delighted to announce the appointment of Graham Muir
as its new Commercial Manager. Three candidates were
interviewed, from four or five excellent applicants, but it was
Graham who was considered ideal for the role. Previously at
Nestles, and experienced in sales, purchasing and working with
large organisations, Graham has recently taken early retirement
and is looking forward to implementing his ideas to help raise
both the club's profile and vital funds. Special thanks go to
Annie Raby for her work on the commercial side last season. |

Worthing 2 Horsham 3 (after extra time) |
|
A
last-gasp goal by Kery Kedze gave Horsham some overdue cheer
tonight as they took the Brighton Charity Cup with an exciting
3-2 win over Worthing. Kedze struck in the final seconds of
extra-time to give the Hornets a deserved victory, despite the
Rebels hitting the woodwork 3 times.Charlie Farmer's headed goal
put Horsham in front but Mike Huckett levelled on the stroke of
half-time, following up to score after Michael Hunter had saved
his poor spot-kick. Jamie Brotherton made it 2-1 to Worthing
with a neat turn and shot but a near post header by Dan Morris
sent the game in to extra-time and set the stage for Kedze to
break Worthing hearts and spark unbridled scenes of celebration
by the Horsham players and supporters.

Cray Wanderers
3 Horsham 1 |
|
Michael
Power struck twice in the opening 10 minutes as Horsham's 6 year stay in the Ryman Premier
Division came to an end at soggy Cray Wanderers on Saturday.
Sloppy marking saw the visitors fall behind in Cray's first
attack before Power profited from a fumble by Michael
Hunter to double the lead. Dan Morris missed a great opportunity
to reduce the arrears but his was a rare chance for the Hornets
although it took until the 88th minute before Cray added to
their score when Tony Dolby netted from close range. Wayne
Clarke's opportunist strike gave the travelling fans something
to cheer at the end but an offside flag denied Tony Nwachukwu a
second as the Hornets bade a timid goodbye to the Premier
Division.

our remaining home games this season. Jeannie Charman would also
like any unwanted Sainsburys vouchers. Thanks for your support.
