04-MAY-2008: Youngsters complete season with
100% record |
|
David
O'Callaghan's superbly struck free-kick completed a tremendous turnaround for
the Under 14s as they overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Fishersgate Flyers 3-2
to conclude their season with a fantastic 100% success rate in all
competitions.

Meanwhile, Zak Comber took his personal tally to
52 goals for the season as the Under 12s defeated Regis 2000 'A' in a hard
fought encounter. During a fairly even first half Regis had 4 successive
corners that saw Hornets' 'keeper Lewis Blaney make some fine saves but, just
as it was beginning to look like it would be goalless at the break, Stanley
Rice broke the deadlock. During the second half Regis came out raring to go
and scored 2 goals within the first 10 minutes. Horsham weren't beaten yet
though! Zak managed an equalizer and it was game on. Both teams then had
chances but if fell to Horsham's prolific striker to have the final say when
he notched the winner although, sadly, injury forced to watch the last minutes
of the game on the sidelines. |

02-MAY-2008: Youngsters finish second after
defeat at Worthing |
|
The Under 16s took the runners-up spot in the
Arun & Chichester League after crashing 4-1 against title rivals Worthing
United tonight. Having been awarded maximum points following Bognor's failure
to fulfil Thursday's fixture, the Hornets stood 2 points ahead of tonight's
opponents at the start of this championship decider. Sadly for Horsham,
despite holding their hosts to a 1-1 draw at the break thanks to an effort
from Patrick
O'Sullivan, Worthing fired in 3 unanswered goals after the interval to
take the title by just a single point. In spite of the result, the lads can be
proud of their achievements in which they were never out of the top 4 all
season and lost just twice in the league, both times against Worthing United. |

01-MAY-2008: Youngsters left frustrated as
opponents fail to show |
|
Both the Under
14s and Under 16s were left kicking their heels tonight after their Arun &
Chichester League fixtures were postponed. The Under 14s, fresh from Tuesday
night's title winning victory against Adur Athletic, were awarded the points
after Chichester City Colts were unable to field a side while the U16s' visit
to Bognor Regis Town was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch. Meanwhile,
their home match with championship rivals Worthing United, postponed from
Tuesday night, will now take place at Worthing Utd on
Friday 2nd May, ko 6.30pm. |
