PREVIEW:
Horsham will hope to mark the end of a frustrating week by inflicting a 9th home league defeat of the season upon Premier Division debutants Waltham Abbey this Saturday. The Hornets have never previously visited the Abbotts' Capershotts ground, in fact the 2-1 win over the Essex side at Gorings Mead last month was the first ever meeting between the 2 sides, but they will do so without Alex Haddow who faces a one match ban for his controversial dismissal against Ashford Town recently.

Haddow was due to have served his suspension during Tuesday's meeting with Dartford but, like so many other fixtures this midweek (including Thursday's Brighton Charity Cup tie at Chichester City) the match fell victim to the weather to leave John Maggs and his players kicking their heels.

Waltham Abbey have picked up a couple of decent results since our January meeting, pulling off something of a shock win at Wealdstone (4-2) and following that up with a 2-1 success over troubled Carshalton Athletic for what was only the Abbotts' 2nd home league victory of the season. Although rooted to the bottom of the table, those 6 points have enabled them to keep in touch with Bognor Regis Town and Margate, whom they meet next weekend, but a 5 point gap between Waltham Abbey and Premier Division survival suggests that there is still plenty of work to do by managers Lee Johnson and Tony Tillbrook if the club is to avoid an instant return to the Ryman Division One North.

Ben Andrews has been cleared to play for the Hornets, despite having hobbled out of last Saturday's 3-1 win over Hendon, while James Nicholls is likely to be among the travelling party after returning to the club earlier this week. Pat Harding is Horsham's man in form, netting 3 times in the last 2 games to take his season's tally to 16, and he will be looking to add to that total against a defence that has kept just 2 sheets in all competitions this season.
