HISC AGM - Wednesday 3rd June, 8pm
|
|
Supporters
Club members are reminded that the HISC AGM will take place at the Rehoboth
Baptist Church Hall, New Street, Horsham on Wednesday 3rd June at 8pm.
With the withdrawal of the planning appeal, and the club firmly in discussions
with Horsham District Council, we could see even more interesting developments
in the near future. So, what better time to turn up and vote for your favourite
committee and listen to what we have to say regarding news and ideas for the
2009/2010 season? As usual HISC, thanks to our good relationship with the club,
are able to continue organising regular get-togethers with HFC officials and
playing staff and this will continue throughout the season, starting with one of
the newest directors at the club. Kevin Borrett has kindly agreed to be the
guest speaker at this year's HISC AGM and we would ask members to turn up and
show Kevin the support he's likely to receive in his role at the club. Remember
- the current HISC Membership is valid for the forthcoming 2009/2010 season so
we won't be chasing existing members for any more money at the time-being. How's
that for credit-crunch appeal?
There is so much we can do, but we can't do it alone. We need every Horsham fan
to join us. It's your club, so join us in supporting them. See you on the 3rd
June.

29-MAY-2009: Maggs delighted as Haddow agrees to stay put |
|
Alex
Haddow is the latest player to agree to re-sign for the Hornets as John Maggs
continues to build for the 2009/10 Ryman League campaign. The former Bognor man
put in some impressive displays on the left flank last season and Maggs has
declared himself delighted to have retained the core of last season's squad with
Gary Charman, Lee Carney, Mark Knee, Anthony Acheampong and Sam and Jack Page
also agreeing to remain at the club. Meanwhile Maggs has revealed that he hopes
to complete the signing of a former Nationwide Conference striker by the end of
next week and is also in discussions with a further two new players, believed to
be a midfielder and a forward. |

19-MAY-2009: Shoreham and Godalming added to pre-season calendar |
|
Horsham are set to begin their preparations for the
new season with a visit to Shoreham, the side who ended our hopes of retaining
the Brighton Charity Cup at the semi-final stage back in March. John Maggs will
take his side to Middle Road on Thursday 23rd July after The Musselmen agreed to
replace Leatherhead in the pre-season calendar when the Tanners announced that
they were unable to fulfil the fixture. Three Bridges are another side to have
pulled out of a meeting with Maggs' Hornets and they are replaced by Ryman
League South side Godalming Town. The full list of matches can be seen on the
provisional fixture list

18-MAY-2009: The boys are back in town !! |
|
The news that all Hornets' supporters were waiting
for became official today with the Ryman League's announcement that it had
formally accepted Horsham YMCA's promotion from the Sussex County League,
leaving the way clear for the two Horsham clubs to groundshare at Gorings Mead
next season. There were strong rumours on Friday that YM would be promoted, despite finishing
behind Eastbourne Association and Arundel, but Horsham's directors refused to
comment until today's official announcement. Whilst delighted with the news,
Director Kevin Borrett assured fans that the club will continue its efforts to secure a
location within the town for the long term future of Horsham Football Club.

15-MAY-2009: Sam's staying put |
|
Sam Page has become the first of John Maggs' squad to pledge his
future to the club after agreeing to take up the second of his two
year contract this week. The highly regarded club captain and
centre-half was the cornerstone of the Hornets' defence last season
and his decision to re-sign gives the manager a huge boost as he
begins to put together his squad for the 2009/10 campaign. Page's
younger brother Jack, who missed most of last season through injury,
is also expected to remain with the club, Maggs revealed earlier
today. |

13-MAY-2009: Groundshare latest |
|
Horsham YMCA's hopes of landing the
County League title were ended today after the League's decision not
to award Jim White's side with additional points after Chichester City
United fielded an ineligible player against them earlier in the
season. Fears that this may jeopardise the Hornets' groundshare plans
could be allayed when the Leagues' representatives meet at FA
Headquarters on Thursday evening where it is understood that YM's
promotion to the Ryman League may still be sanctioned following
discussions between the Isthmian and Sussex County Leagues.

11-MAY-2009: Club awards 2008/9 |
|
Mark Knee walked away with three awards from Saturday's annual
Dinner/Dance to make it a memorable first season with the Hornets for
the former Worthing man. Having already been announced as the
supporters' Player of the Year at the club's final match of the
season, Mark was also named as the Manager's and Players' Player of
the Year while player/coach Rob Frankland collected the Directors'
award. Tony Nwachukwu capped an excellent season by bagging the U18s'
Players' Player and top goalscorer awards while another to have
experienced first team football this season - Adam Hutchings - was
named as the U18s Supporters' Player of the Year. Harry Pleece picked
up the Managers' award. Congratulations to them all. |

pre-season preparations after the first batch of friendly fixtures

Three Bridges make up the early quartet of opponents with dates for
each of the matches still to be announced. |

03-MAY-2009: YM and Hornets face anxious wait for League ruling |
|
Horsham
YMCA await a County League decision before knowing if they will be
playing Ryman League football next season. Wins for Eastbourne
Association, Arundel and YM yesterday left Chris White's side in 3rd
place but the mooted awarded of an extra 3 points, the result of
Chichester City having fielded an ineligible player earlier in the
season, would make YM champions and secure their passage to the
Isthmian League and guarantee the Hornets' groundshare at Gorings Mead
next season.

03-MAY-2009: Staines promoted after play-off success |
|
Staines Town will join Champions
Dover in the Blue Square Conference South next season after beating
Carshalton Athletic 1-0 in yesterday's play-off final. A late penalty
save by Swans' 'keeper Louis Wells sent the game in to extra-time and
former Lewes striker Scott Taylor stepped off the bench to grab the
decisive goal to make it second time lucky for Steve Cordery's side
who were beaten at the same stage by AFC Wimbledon last season. Moving
up from Division One will be our old friends Kingstonian and Cray
Wanderers, the latter courtesy of yesterday's 1-0 win against the Met
Police, while Aveley and Waltham Abbey can look forward to Isthmian
top flight football after promotion from Division One North. |
