30-JUN-2009: Hornets await FA Cup fate |
|
Horsham will be hoping for another kind draw when the opening stages
of the 2009/10 FA Cup (sponsored by E.ON) are revealed on Wednesday.
John Maggs' side made history in reaching the Second Round of this
most famous of competitions in 2007/8 and were less than 10 minutes
away from a money-spinning trip to Leicester City last year, having
begun those campaigns with home ties against lower ranking opponents
in Arundel and Colliers Wood United. Will the Hornets be as fortunate
again ? All the news of the draw will be published on this website on
Wednesday evening. |

26-JUN-2009: Carney 'raring to go' |
|
Lee Carney is fit and 'raring to go', according to manager John Maggs
who this week saw his prized asset turn down the chance of joining up
with former team-mate Nigel Brake at Three Bridges. The midfielder has
been undergoing physiotherapy on the injured knee that forced him out
of the closing stages of last season and will be fit to start his 9th
campaign with the Hornets, something that had been in the balance over
the past fortnight. "Three Bridges made Lee a very attractive offer
and he told me he would be talking to them while I was away," revealed
Maggs. "I understand that they have also been speaking with Nigel
Brake but I'm delighted that Lee has decided to stay with us and I'm
looking forward to him starting the season with us once again." |

24-JUN-2009: Eldridge gives Maggs perfect tonic |
|
John Maggs picked up where he left off by returning from a fortnight's
holiday in Portugal to confirm the signing of Russell Eldridge for a
second term. The popular full-back was one of a handful of last
season's squad not to have agreed to re-sign but Maggs described the
former Hastings man's decision as 'really great news' and confirmed
that he will also be in conversation with Yinka Salaam and Williams
Peauroux in the next few days to discuss their futures. Meanwhile,
captain Sam Page's possible return to the Football League is likely to
be decided next week when the player and manager meet with the unnamed
League Two club's representatives.

10-JUN-2009: Directors reassure Gorings Mead residents |
|
Horsham directors Kevin Borrett, John Lines and Tim Hewlett held a
question and answer session with residents of Gorings Mead last night
during which Hewlett, Horsham Football Club's Health & Safety Officer,
explained the proposed matchday crowd stewarding and traffic calming
measures to a large enquiring audience of residents who were keen to
hear how the Club intended to avoid causing disruption and nuisance
during their groundshare with YMCA. Hewlett confirmed that matchday
parking at Gorings Mead would be limited to officials, the disabled,
and a small number of parking season ticket holders only. There will
be a number of opportunities for supporters to assist with stewarding
and other duties when the new season commences. Anyone interested, or
requiring more information, should contact Tim Hewlett on 07774
649976.
The Gorings Mead residents were encouraged to raise any concerns that
may arise during the season direct with the club. Chairman Kevin
Borrett stated "it was a priority of the club for the forthcoming
season to be a good citizen to local residents during their two year
tenancy".

until 2010, is understood to have attracted the attention of several
league scouts last season with some impressive displays in the heart
of the defence but further discussions have been put on hold until
Maggs returns from holiday at the end of the month.

revealed Maggs who has now seen 8 of last season's first team sign up
