The
2006/7 season will be looked back upon with immense pride for the coaches and
management of Horsham Youth Football. Entering teams at three age groups, into
four different divisions, the Club was able to celebrate no less than three
championship titles, a third place, three cup finals and, perhaps most notably
of all, the appearance of several members of the under 18 squad in John Maggs'
first team.
The
Youth programme is recognised as an essential part of the fabric of Horsham
Football Club and, as the proud recipients of the Charter Standard Club
award, we are able to offer parents the assurance that the Club adheres
to the best
practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child
protection, with the aim of improving the
playing experience for everyone concerned.
We are keen to build on last season's successes and will be fielding sides at
four different age groups for the 2007/8 season; under 12s, under 14s, under
16s and under 18s. If you are interested in playing for the Club, please

04-MAY-2008: Youngsters complete season with
100% record |
|
David
O'Callaghan's superbly struck free-kick completed a tremendous turnaround for
the Under 14s as they overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Fishersgate Flyers 3-2
to conclude their season with a fantastic 100% success rate in all
competitions.

Meanwhile, Zak Comber took his personal tally to
52 goals for the season as the Under 12s defeated Regis 2000 'A' in a hard
fought encounter. During a fairly even first half Regis had 4 successive
corners that saw Hornets' 'keeper Lewis Blaney make some fine saves but, just
as it was beginning to look like it would be goalless at the break, Stanley
Rice broke the deadlock. During the second half Regis came out raring to go
and scored 2 goals within the first 10 minutes. Horsham weren't beaten yet
though! Zak managed an equalizer and it was game on. Both teams then had
chances but if fell to Horsham's prolific striker to have the final say when
he notched the winner although, sadly, injury forced to watch the last minutes
of the game on the sidelines. |

02-MAY-2008: Youngsters finish second after
defeat at Worthing |
|
The Under 16s took the runners-up spot in the
Arun & Chichester League after crashing 4-1 against title rivals Worthing
United tonight. Having been awarded maximum points following Bognor's failure
to fulfil Thursday's fixture, the Hornets stood 2 points ahead of tonight's
opponents at the start of this championship decider. Sadly for Horsham,
despite holding their hosts to a 1-1 draw at the break thanks to an effort
from Patrick
O'Sullivan, Worthing fired in 3 unanswered goals after the interval to
take the title by just a single point. In spite of the result, the lads can be
proud of their achievements in which they were never out of the top 4 all
season and lost just twice in the league, both times against Worthing United. |
|
01-MAY-2008: Youngsters left frustrated as
opponents fail to show |
|
Both the Under
14s and Under 16s were left kicking their heels tonight after their Arun &
Chichester League fixtures were postponed. The Under 14s, fresh from Tuesday
night's title winning victory against Adur Athletic, were awarded the points
after Chichester City Colts were unable to field a side while the U16s' visit
to Bognor Regis Town was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch. Meanwhile,
their home match with championship rivals Worthing United, postponed from
Tuesday night, will now take place at Worthing Utd on
Friday 2nd May, ko 6.30pm. |
|
30-APR-2008: Young striker hits 50th goal
ofthe season |
|
Zak Comber was
the toast of the U12s after scoring all 4 goals in the 4-1 win at Bognor Regis
Colts on Tuesday evening to take his personal tally to an amazing 50 goals for
the season !! Well done Zak ! |
|
30-APR-2008: Rivals beaten as Hornets take
the treble |
|
George Hall, Louis Masih and Josh Clack
grabbed the goals that secured the Hornets U14s a 3-0 win against title rivals Adur
Athletic to secure the Arun & Chichester League championship and, in the
process, claim a fabulous treble. Having claimed the County and League Cup
trophies last week, Matt Bulley's all- conquering side knew that victory over
Adur would clinch the title but it took Horsham until 3 minutes before the
break to open the scoring when Hall deflected David O'Callaghan's in to the
net. From then on in, only the Adur 'keeper stood between Horsham and a
convincing win but Masih and Clack struck twice more to continue the 100%
record that they will hope to defend when they face Chichester City Colts on
Thursday in the season's finale.

29-APR-2008: Worthing game postponed |
|
Monday night's Ryman Youth League meeting
with Worthing, scheduled for last night, was postponed due to the Rebels'
League Cup commitments. This match will now take place at Woodside Road at a
date to be announced. |
|
27-APR-2008: Hall's on the ball as Hornets
claim cup double |
|
A brace of goals from George Hall saw Horsham's
Under 14s claim the League Cup today with a 2-1 win against Felpham
Colts. The young Hornets have already claimed the County Cup and remain on
course for a treble triumph, sitting 3 points clear of 2nd placed Adur
Athletic with 3 games remaining.
