After the postponement of their opening league match of the season, Horsham's under 14s started off meaning business against Worthing United 'B' and, within the first minute, Matt Clarke had a chance to put them ahead. With no fewer than seven chances in the first twelve minutes, it took George Hall to hold up the ball and pass back to Daryl Jeeves who finished in style to put Horsham ahead but the scoreline remained at 0-1 at the break, despite them having by far the greater amount of play.

The first seven minutes of the second half saw several more chances fall the Hornets' way before Hall latched on to a poor clearance to double Horsham’s advantage. With more sustained pressure, a corner from the right sailed over everybody and came to Mackie Law who lofted the ball back over the 'keeper from just outside the box to make it 0 – 3. The 62nd minute saw Jeeves become provider when his through ball was slotted past the keeper by Hall for his second of the game. The next five minutes saw even more pressure and resulted in two goals in a minute. First, Clarke provided a tap in for Louis Masih and then blasted in a bullet from outside the area after Sam Bulley’s cross was cleared. With three minutes to go, Horsham were awarded a free kick and Joss Knowles stepped forward from defence and slotted the ball in the top left corner for Horsham’s seventh. In the final minute, Worthing finally got past the defence when one of their players beat the offside trap but, with their player one on one with goalkeeper Kieran Towse, a rapidly chasing Stuart Chester nipped in to put the ball out for Worthing’s first corner.
