The second of 3 vital consecutive encounters with Rustington Otters looked set to copy last week's fixture.

Horsham had an early chance when, in the 1st minute, Daryl Jeeves shot just went wide and the next 10 minutes consisted of open play with Horsham starting to look the better side. The 11th minute saw Kieran Towse called into action, coming out to claim the ball confidently. On 16 minutes both Matt Clarke and then Josh Clack had chances to put the Hornets ahead but both failed to find the target. Seven minutes later, a handball just outside the Rustington area saw the young Hornets take the lead when David O’Callaghan’s free kick found the top right corner. 25 minutes into the game Rustington had a chance with the shot just clearing the bar and, from the goal kick, Clack picked up the ball and played it through to Hall who was 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper who produced a fine save to deny Horsham their second. The remainder of the half saw Horsham pushing hard for their second but without being able to breach the Rustington defence.

The second half saw Matt Bulley’s team come out pushing hard and, with 5 minutes gone, Clack broke through and found himself with only the 'keeper to beat and coolly slotted home. Rustington earned a rare corner in the 47th minute but the defence, led by Joss Knowles, held firm and Zack Gray cleared to relieve the pressure. With 19 minutes of the half gone, a through ball by Clack saw Masih with just the 'keeper to beat but his shot went straight at him. Three minutes later he was in the same position after a O’Callaghan through ball played him in but, again, his shot ending up straight at the Otters' 'keeper. Just into the last quarter of the game, Chester made a run through the middle of the pitch. His pass found Hall on the edge of the box and he tapped it into the path of Goldsmith whose miscued shot went wide. With just 3 minutes to go the Hornets had another good chance with Marcus Collier’s shot producing a good save.

Horsham’s fixture next Sunday is the League Cup semi-final at Rustington Otters.
